This module will explore a variety of debates on the impacts that scientific and technological innovation have on human beings and human societies. Science and technology transform the world in profound ways. These transformations affect the material as well as the social and political dimensions of human life. How should we understand these transformations? Are they desirable or undesirable? And what should we do about them?

Assessment details

Summative assessment: 1 x 3,000 word essay (100%)

Teaching pattern

One one-hour weekly lecture and one one-hour weekly seminar over ten weeks.
