Module description

This module provides a survey of the cultural history on Spain in the XIX and the XX centuries, and also on concepts such as authority, subjectivity or modernity. We are going to consider the relationship established between Spanish periodicals and political and cultural change, so we will also examine questions around censorship, political writing or identity: how class, gender or race are presented. Another aim will be the study of the interconnections between journalistism and the novel, looking at journalistic writing and the “non-fiction” novel in Spain.
