Module description

Through music streaming, social media, data sonification, digital audio workstations, mobile phones-and in other ways besides-music has become closely entwined with digital cultures. This module explores both the causes and the consequences of this entwinement, focussing on the music industry, changing ideas of performance, everyday listening practices and environmental impacts. At the same time, we will investigate music's role in the construction of 'key' digital concepts such as immersion, virtuality and artificial intelligence.
