Students will focus on the work of five major figures in the history of modern political philosophy: Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, John Stuart Mill, and Karl Marx. Summative assessment: one two-hour examination (100%) in May/June
Formative assessment: one 2,000-word essay
One one-hour weekly lecture and one one-hour weekly seminar over ten weeks.
