Module description

This module endeavours to equip new students with the skills and knowledge to undertake an independent research project. It proposes, first, to introduce some of the myriad ways in which music has been written about; and second, to enable students successfully to research and responsibly to write about topics that interest them on their own, in the form of an extended essay.


Assessment details

One 4000-word essay (85%) and one essay plan (15%)

Teaching pattern

This year-long module will be taught via twenty one-hour seminars.
