Orientation Schedule January 2019

Welcome to King's ( surnames A-K )
Time: 11:00-12:00
Location: Room S -2.18 Strand Campus

Your official welcome to King's. If your surname begins with any letter starting A-K, please attend this session. At this session you will be welcomed by the Head of the Global Mobility Office, as well as your key contacts in the office. You will meet some of the Global Mobility team and our six lovely Peer Advisors, discover what Orientation week holds for you and learn some key information about enrolment and modules, as well as your time at King's. You'll also have a chance to meet some of your fellow Study Abroad students and learn about the Language Resources Centre here at King's.

Drop by a Module Drop-In Session and chat to one of the Global Mobility team or Peer Advisors who will be on hand to help you submit your Module Amendment Form to us by email. Module Amendment Forms should be emailed to studyabroad@kcl.ac.uk in word document format only and must include your King's student number and timetable details for processing. Please note that you are of course welcome to email your Module Amendment Form to us without consultation with a team member at one of the above Drop-In sessions.

Trying to get your head around the tube system? Wondering about the best places to use your student discount? Want to know how to set up a bank account? This presentation will introduce you to living...and hopefully thriving in London, covering practicalities such as transport as well as suggesting fun activities to suit every budget.

Social Science and Public Policy (SSPP) Faculty Welcome

If you are taking modules in the Faculty of SSPP please attend this welcome meeting. You will hear from representatives from the Faculty and important information about your modules will be relayed. If you are not taking any modules in this faculty, you do not need to attend.

Study Skills
Time: 15:00-16:00
Location: Bush House Auditorium N -1.01

Nervous about getting good grades whilst studying abroad? The academic culture of the UK and what is expected of you may be different from that of your home country. This important session will look at the academic approach in the UK, how students are graded, methods of assessment, plagiarism and also provide a short introduction to effective study skills for your time in the UK.

Staying in a King's residence? Is Great Dover Street home for the next few months, or perhaps you're enjoying the shopping scene and East London life at Angel Lane? Enjoying the food of Borough Market whilst living in Moonraker Point? Whichever King's residence you're in, the team invites you to this welcome session to find out how to get the most out of your home away from home and to also provide you with handy information concerning the practical side of life in a King's residence. This session is compulsory if you are staying in a King's residence.
