Our clinic is a leader in research into anxiety in the UK and is the main contributor to the research into anxiety disorders in the SLaM NHS Trust. Many of the treatments we offer have been developed by our own teams, have been shown to be very effective in randomised-controlled trials, and are subject to high levels of quality control. Peer review publications from CADAT staff can be seen by clicking on the following link IOPPN CADAT Pure Research Outputs. The Wellcome Trust Anxiety Disorders Group based at the IOPPN and the University of Oxford have recently started a clinical trial looking at ways of improving the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The STOP-PTSD trial compares two forms of psychological therapy that are completed online with the support of a clinical psychologist specialising in PTSD. If you suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after experiencing a traumatic event in adulthood, and could attend assessments in South London, Oxford or Brighton and would be interested in hearing more about this clinical trial, please click here.
Colette Hirsch's Cognition in Emotional Disorders and Resilience (CEDAR) Group is currently recruiting for a study looking at "Advancing our understanding of Generalised Anxiety Disorder and Depression". Please click here for more information on this and other CEDAR current research areas.

Additional Research Activity
We have published on the experience of intrusive imagery in a phobia of vomiting and the nature of disordered eating. We have developed an outcome measure and are planning to evaluate our treatment package in a RCT.
CADAT falls within the DAAIM theme (Disorders of Affect, Addiction, and Interface with Medicine) of the SLaM's NIHR Biomedical Centre. A key project within this theme was an investigation of PRedictors of OutcoME following Psychological Therapy within IAPT services ("PROMPT"). David Veale and Colette Hirsch are members of the team that established the research protocol for this.
David Veale has obtained a grant for developing computerised CBT for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) from SLaM Charitable Trustees. David Veale is an investigator on a NIHR grant for a Controlled Trial of CBT for Children and Adolescence BDD. He was also a member of the Editorial Board for Body Image, Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy and the Journal of Obsessive Compulsive and Related Disorders.
All our therapists regularly review articles for various journals. Please click here for more detailed information on our publications.
