Libraries & Collections is a key division within the Directorate of Students and Education at King’s College London, supporting the institution’s teaching, learning, research and administrative activity. Led by the Director, Lis Hannon, Libraries & Collections has four departments. 

Education & Learning is responsible for delivering the King’s Education Strategy by: embedding information literacy in the curriculum and creating a community of learners; working across King’s to contribute to the development of the digital environment; supporting the development of  a rich and diverse curriculum by working in partnership on reading list design; and supporting Research Enhanced Learning by delivering skills for researchers and research skills for students.

Research & Impact is responsible for delivering the King's Research Strategy by: increasing the impact and accessibility of King's research; increasing the impact of our research collections including digitisation, digital scholarship & public engagement; reducing the administrative burden on our researchers; ensuring compliance with funder, publisher and legal requirements; developing our subscription model with close alignment to open research; representing King’s in international debates around Open Access, Plan S and publishing.

Service Design & Delivery is responsible for providing services and spaces for the entire King’s community by: providing spaces, physical & digital, that are fit for a '21st Century Library' and ensuring they are managed to maximise impact; providing systems and technology that underpin and enhance service delivery; maximising the availability of our lending collections and delivering first-line services that are welcoming and make the library accessible to all; ensuring customer insight is captured, analysed and fed into the design of our services.

Business Operations is responsible for enabling and underpinning the high-functioning of Libraries & Collections by: ensuring the visibility and engagement of our services through targeted marketing activities; ensuring service resilience through business continuity planning and evidence-based decision making through the provision of business intelligence; ensuring we maximise our financial reach through careful budgeting and planning; ensuring our people are developed, engaged and deployed to ensure the delivery of Library Evolution.

Libraries are located across the five main campuses offering subject-specific resources with help and advice from qualified staff. Libraries & Collections also offers a portfolio of services to King’s Health Partners an extensive network of affiliated organisations including NHS staff from three internationally renowned trusts: King’s College Hospital, Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals, and South London & Maudsley.
