Visiting Scholars

The Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care welcomes applications from potential visiting scholars. Successful applicants will be affiliated to one of the Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care research divisions, and will be able to make use of King’s resources. Resources include light supervision (equivalent to one to two meetings per term) with your sponsor/supervisor, desk space, access to library services and IT services, such as a King’s email address. You will also be able to attend events and meetings organised by the research division.

Appointments will normally be for one month or one year in the first instance and will be renewed only in exceptional cases.

Typically access to King’s resources will cease at the end of the period of the appointment. Account holders will receive an email to their affiliate account to warn them when their account is due to expire and may wish to set up mail forwarding if they are unlikely to check it regularly.

How to arrange being a visiting scholar at King's

If you are interested in visiting one of our research divisions and are not already in contact with one of our academic staff members, please view our list of academic staff member profiles so you can select who to approach to request as your nominator (sponsor).

Please contact nmpc_visitor@kcl.ac.uk to request an application form. Applicants are also required to submit a CV and two professional references.

We can only accept a small number of applicants each year, and these are expected to be closely aligned with our current work.

Fees

There is an upfront administration cost of £50 per application to be paid via the King’s College London Online Store at the time of submission, for the application to be processed.

Please note that if your application is successful, an additional fee (see below) must be paid in full to the Faculty before your appointed start date. Payment should be made by debit or credit card, via the King’s College London Online Store. This fee is required to offset administrative and supervisory costs.

  • Visiting appointments of up to one month: £375
  • Visiting appointments of up to one year: £4,500

Former King’s staff members, former King’s PhD students, and visitors from King’s partner organisations (where a Memorandum of Understanding is in place) will not be charged a fee. If you fit one of these criteria, please ensure that you mention this when making initial contact with the research division.
