Dr Christine Patch
Dr Christine Patch is a registered genetic counsellor nurse. She has a Masters in Education and is a fellow of the HEA. Her PhD, from the University of Southampton, compared genetic and biochemical screening for haemochromatosis assessing uptake. Before moving to King's, she was a manager and consultant genetic counsellor in the NHS for over ten years and maintains an honorary NHS contract.
In addition to her academic post, she is Clinical Lead for Genetic Counselling for Genomics England. From May 2017 she will be president of the European Society for Human Genetics. She has held various other positions on advisory bodies and professional societies involved in human genetics.
Her education and research interests are in the application of genomics within healthcare, in particular the effectiveness of the implementation of genetic technologies, the effects on families and individuals, and the education of health professionals to deliver safe, ethical and effective genomic healthcare.
