International Nurses Day

International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world on 12 May, which is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

The Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care at King's is directly descended from the Nightingale Training School, which Florence herself helped to set up in 1860. Today, we continue Nightingale’s legacy through education, research and international leadership - transforming the lives of patients and their families and supporting the nursing profession.

The theme for this year is Nurses: A voice to lead - A vision for future healthcare and coincides with a report of the same name from the International Council of Nurses.

Our online celebration this year takes a look at the ways our community is looking to the future to transform the next stage of healthcare for patients and families, the profession and health systems.
