Moving out

Moving out of residences

Moving out can be a stressful time. The high of finishing exams is over and you are ready for the summer break to start. However, there are a few key things that need to be done before you head off. We have collaborated with Better Resuse services to ensure that any unrequired things are disposed in an eco-friendly way. Better Reuse  provide eco-friendly services that divert redundant furniture, fittings and equipment from landfill and put them back to use, usually cheaper than waste solutions.

Collecting Your Belongings

Following the latest UK Government advice on travel, you can now return to your residence to collect any belongings you left behind when you checked out.

The Government still advises avoiding public transport so when you plan your journey, please follow the safer travel guidance for passengers. If you, or a member of your household, has symptoms of Covid-19, you should not travel.  If this means you cannot collect your belongings yourself, you can nominate someone to pick them up on your behalf.

Below you will find more details on how you can collect your belongings or arrange a collection from Residences, specific to your location.

Packing

We work with a number of suppliers who provide packing boxes and materials. Please visit the following sites for more information: ArgosStaplesPackaging2BuyPackingBoxes.

Unfortunately due to space restrictions in our residences, we are not able to store any items over the summer for residents. Please take a look at the following storage providers for more information LOVESPACEBig Yellow Self StorageShurguardHenfield Self StorageBoxman.

Whilst you were living in residences your personal contents were covered by Endsleigh, the No.1   student insurance provider. Now that you are moving out of residences your cover will end with   your contract. Endsleigh is offering all former residents with a great deal on personal contents   insurance starting from as little as £1.93 per month.

Checking out

Please also ensure you report any repairs required prior to checking out. If you room has been found to have been damaged, you will be charged based on the identified rates.

All residents are required to check out by 10:00am on the day of their contract end date. Residents at our Great Dover Street, Stamford Street, Champion Hill and Wolfson House residences are able to collect their express check out envelope from reception from Thursday 31st May 2020. All residents are required to check out with reception to avoid any excess removal fees beyond your contract date.
