How to apply

How to book your room

Our central London residences are close to campus, come with an accommodation guarantee, and couldn't be simpler to book.

All you need to do is follow three easy steps to book your accommodation with us. See below for details on each step.

Before you make a booking though, explore our residences page to fully understand the location, room fees, and facilities available at each residence.

Find your contract length

The system will automatically calculate your contract length based on your course type. Most undergraduate accommodation contracts will cover a full academic year of 40 weeks, though there is an option to choose 51 weeks in select residences.

Important documents

These documents outline the way in which we provide accommodation for current and prospective students at King’s College London.

Step 1: Register your interest

The first step is to register for accommodation. You must hold a Firm offer of study in order to be eligible.

At this point, you will be able to apply for the King’s Affordable Accommodation Scheme, mention any Accommodation Disability Provision requirements, or declare a recent care leaver status, if you wish to do so. The team will then assess your application and send an outcome within two weeks.

To register your details you will need to enter your King's College London student ID number as your username and select 'reset password'. This will send a new temporary password to the email address we have on record. If you do not know your ID number, please refer to the offer letter that you have received via email.

For applications from those who will be under 18 at the time of arrival, you'll find further details on booking your accommodation at the bottom of the page.

Step 2: Book your room

You can now access the portal and select from a number of criteria, such as budget or room type, to view availability across the residences. You can then pick the exact room you like. It’s totally up to you. You will also be able to view the age and gender of the other residents in your selected flat to help you make your choice.

Registrations will be active for two weeks from the date of submission. During this period, you should make sure to secure your accommodation. Any registration without a booking will be automatically cancelled after two weeks. Approved KAAS applications will be active for one week and your booking should be made in this time.

Step 3: Sign your contract and make your pre-payment

Make sure to read your licence agreement (contract) carefully before signing, as it is legally binding. Once you have accepted it, you will receive a confirmation email with a PDF attachment of your Licence Agreement. Please ensure that you check your spam/junk folder if you do not receive this email.

You can make changes to your booking later if you like, but this can only be done once and will be subject to availability.

You will now be asked to make a rent pre-payment of £450 in order to secure your room, but this pre-payment will be offset against the first instalment of rent due in October 2026. If you have been approved for the King's Affordable Accommodation Scheme (KAAS), you will not be asked to make this pre-payment.

And you’re done! Welcome to King’s Residences!
