Research & impact

We pioneer the very best in rehabilitation and palliative care research to ease the suffering of vulnerable people affected by serious and life-limiting illnesses.

Our multi-skilled staff develop and study person-centred solutions using innovative and varied engagement activities on a global scale. We work with patients and families across disease groups to improve our understanding of their needs and quickly translate our research into education, policy, and care through multi-disciplinary collaboration. We continuously evaluate the impact of our work across research themes and individual projects to improve our engagement and impact strategies and articulate the value of our research to funders, collaborators and stakeholders.

The reach and significance of our research is enhanced by our joint clinical-academic working environment and collaborations across King’s College London, King’s Health Partners and local and international healthcare organisations. This includes our work as a World Health Organisation (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Palliative Care, Policy & Rehabilitation and the NIHR Applied Research Collaborative, in which we lead a theme on palliative and end of life care.

‘We know we are partners in a worldwide network. The personal and family values that have made our multi-faceted development possible are the essence of our common humanity.’
