About

Waterloo Gym is now the Sport & Wellness Centre

To align with the departments new vision, we have developed the Waterloo gym facility into the King’s Sport and Wellness centre. The purpose of the of the facility is to connect with our communities to be their personal best, through delivering unique, distinctive world class services as well as bringing people together through inclusive and transformative shared experiences.

Bringing together academic partners and professional services we have created a dynamic learning and living environment where we will co-create services that promote positive life habits and behaviors, optimizing our people and our potential. This will allow us to strengthen social connections and trust through sport, physical activity and wellness so everyone can work, learn, live and thrive at King’s.

The lower floor of the Wellness Centre is a Halls gym just for the residents of Stamford Street Apartments, City & Vauxhall; please check the halls page to double-check when you have access.

Behaviour Change / Sports Psychology 

Want to become more physically active, eat a healthier diet, or quit smoking? Our new behaviour change service can benefit any member of the King’s community.

Sessions are 40-minutes designed to help you tackle your specific issue, and leave the session with a practical skill or strategy that you can start using to change your own behaviour to improve your health and wellbeing.

These sessions can also support in developing skills and strategies to optimise sporting performance for athletes.

Breathing Techniques

30-minutes of mindfulness, breathing and meditation techniques to get your week off to the right start.

Physiotherapy Initial Consultation
If you have an injury, we will assess you and provide a treatment plan. This might include a course of Physiotherapy sessions, referral to further medical investigations or to other healthcare professionals when needed.

Sports Massage

Join us to practice using journaling to help prioritise your challenges and practice positive self-talk.

Health Appraisals
Health Appraisal provides you with a basic health check which can give you a picture of your general health and wellbeing.

Based upon the results we may suggest you meet with certain health and fitness professionals within King’s Sport & Wellness who can support or recommend certain lifestyles changes.

The health check is not a diagnostic process, but based on the results you might consider visiting your GP. 

The aim is to allow you to understand your body a bit better and start to take control of your health and fitness.
