King's Health and Fitness Centre

The King’s Health and Fitness Centre, welcomes students, staff, alumni and members of the public into a welcoming gym environment boasting high quality equipment, exciting classes and great facilities.

Boasting arguably Central London’s cheapest prices, our centre makes no compromise on its equipment and is fully kitted out with cardio-vascular machines (all fitted with individual TVs), fixed resistance stations and a free weights area. Stretching areas and a studio space, boasting an extensive calendar of classes for people of all abilities, complete the facility which caters for everyone; athletes and casual user alike.

Located at the Waterloo Campus, the Centre has great transport links, with Waterloo station only a stone’s throw away. The Centre’s excellent transport links coupled with its proximity to the nearby Guy’s, Strand and St Thomas Campuses make it accessible to all of the King’s Community. You’ll find the Centre located at the corner of Stamford Street and Cornwall Road, opposite the Franklin Wilkins Building, and below the Stamford Street Halls of Residence in this thriving area of London just south of the river.

Equipment

Cardio-vascular:

The gym has a cardio-vascular training zone kitted out with a full range of CV machines. These include: Precor treadmills, Precor crosstrainers, Precor exercise bikes, Precor Climbers and Concept II rowing machines.

Fixed resistance weights:

The Fitness Centre boasts a wide range of Precor fixed resistance stations and multistations which will safely help you work out and isolate individual muscle groups.

Free weights:

The gym features a fully equipped free weights area, which includes a squat rack, bench press, pull up bars and adjustable benches. With dumbbells ranging up to 40kgs and olympic plates and bars, your workout routine should not be limited.

Stretching mats and studio:

To help you with your flexibility and injury prevention, the gym also has dedicated stretching areas and features a studio space for fitness classes or general use.

Exercise Classes

If you enjoy working out in a group then the King’s Health and Fitness Centre offers a full and wide range of exercise classes for you! With classes ranging from Yoga and Pilates all the way to Boxing Fit, no matter what your fitness level may be, there is a class for everyone.  

Our classes are also staggered to run at different hours throughout the week meaning you can accommodate your exercise around lectures, deadlines or your work.

All classes are free to peak members while only lunchtime classes are free to off-peak members. Classes can be booked up to 7 days in advanced and non-members can attend classes on a pay as you go basis from as little as £4.

Access

Entry to the King's Health and Fitness Centre is made via the Stamford Street student residences. To access the centre please go to the main residence entrance, located on Stamford Street and opposite the Franklin Wilkins Building. From here you will be given access by the reception desk to the main courtyard. Entrance to the gym is made on the opposite side of the courtyard.
