21 October 2008 King’s and Philips heart research collaboration
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by King's and Royal Philips Electronics yesterday to work together on a new five-year research collaboration targeted at developing new ways to improve diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
06 October 2008 Major boost for Cancer research
King’s is a big winner in a £50 million funding round, announced at the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Cancer Conference, in a nationwide initiative that will see the development and introduction of the latest imaging technologies to help advances in basic and clinical cancer research.

Professor Tobias Schaeffter, from the Division of Imaging Sciences at King’s College London, has been awarded a £1 million grant to develop novel devices and imaging technology for minimal-invasive treatment of certain heart problems.

The inaugural Graduate Research Showcase Day took place yesterday, highlighting the best of the work of the graduate students based in the Schools of Medicine and Biomedical & Health Sciences. Sergio Uribe-Arancibia, a PhD student from Imaging Sciences took part in the event.

Imaging Sciences, KCL is one of seventeen industrial, clinical and academic partners who were awarded this large European Commission, Framework Programme (FP) 7 grant.

07 April 2008 Major investment at King’s for heart research
King’s has been granted the highest award of £9 million in a £34 million investment by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) for cardiovascular research in the UK. The award will build upon recent investment by the BHF, and help develop a centre for cutting edge research and training.

20 March 2008 Business Plan Competition winners announced
A business idea to provide a health care comparison service won the first ever Graduate Business Plan Competition. Organised by King’s College London Business and the King’s Graduate School, the finals and an Awards Dinner were held on 18 March. Adam Badar and Richard Tavaré who are both PhD students in Imaging Sciences took part in the final.
