Boston College Partnership Celebrations
The Dickson Poon School of Law hosted partners Boston College
Law School last week to celebrate the 25 year partnership between the two Schools.
A two-day conference, ‘Globalizing Forces in Legal
Education, Trade and Human Rights: Conversations across Geographic and
Substantive Boundaries’, celebrated the anniversary of the London Programme
- a pioneering programme that links rigorous
academic study with internships throughout legal London.
The conference took place at King’s College London on
Thursday 8 and Friday 9 May 2014. On Thursday evening, an ‘Honouring
Programme Founders’ reception was held and on Friday evening the conference
culminated with a reception and dinner at the Inner Temple.
Panel sessions included:
- Global Experiential Learning and Training the 21st Century
Lawyer
- Corporate Social Responsibility for Human Rights Abuses
- The US, the UK, the EU and World Trade
- International Arbitration in the 21st Century
The keynote address titled ‘The Pin Factory: Europe and
America in the New World Economy’ was made by Hon. James Bacchus, former Chair,
WTO Appellate Body, former U.S. Congressman, and Chair, Global Practice,
Greenberg Traurig (Orlando/Washington D.C.).
